BT Set to Launch “Ultrafast” Internet in 2012
BT has announced that this year their “ultra fast” broadband will be available to businesses or homes that require the additional speed. This comes as the results from their fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) proved highly successful in the trial area, Cornwall.
This means that for those businesses who demand the highest broadband speed will soon be able to pay for it. If they are prepared to pay the premium, then BT will run a fibre pair from the cabinet straight to their premises.
“FTTP on demand is a significant development for Broadband Britain,” said Openreach boss Olivia Garfield. “Essentially, it could make our fastest speeds available wherever we deploy fibre.”
It was also announced that in the spring of 2012, BT will offer an even faster variant of FTTP broadband. This would take the 40Mbps up to 80Mbps.

This all comes at a time where many sources are all anticipating 2012 to be a booming year for technology. In 2012 we will see a higher demand and increase of: sales of products online, sales of products on mobiles, sales of products on tablets, and an increase in the sales from online social platforms. The faster broadband speed is not only required for businesses (especially as some are choosing an online retail environment instead of a high street store) but the consumer is also demanding a better service.
