Over 1 Million Merchants Now Accepting Payments Via ‘Square’
With the new year underway, there are various discussions and predictions as to how shopping in 2012 will be different thanks to new technology.
One piece of technology which was gaining popularity in 2011 has now found it’s 1 millionth retail customer and is likely to boom throughout 2012 – called the ‘square’.

The Square is an app that can be downloaded onto a smartphone for free. You also receive the physical attachment, pictured above, in the post. This Square enables the retailer to process a credit card through their smartphone. The Square then takes a cut of 2.75% from each transaction.
The Square is booming in popularity and has been taken advantage by small and large retailers. From tradestand shows to in-store purchases, to avoid the customers having to queue; the Square is being reportedly used all over.
Now that it has reached it’s first million, many experts in the retail and tech industry are predicting that it will start to be seen as commonplace by the end of the year.
